Kardinal

Stan writes, “The Kardinal was a KHS after school and nighttime institution from at least the Forties through the Fifties and perhaps beyond. With its long counter and stools, booths lining the opposite wall, and Wurlitzer Juke Box in the back, it had its own mystique and was still a major hangout when I graduated in 1959. I don't know when it met its demise, but the last time I was up there it appeared to have been made into a "legitimate" eating establishment (i.e., fancy restaurant.) More than just an eatery, The Kardinal surely ranks right up there with The Bright Spot and Eagan's.” This photo was in an ad in the 1951 yearbook.
